Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has slammed Gianluigi Donnarumma for his dangerous tackle that left Jamal Musiala injured.

Paris Saint-Germain beat Bayern Munich 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup on Saturday, but the key incident was that Bayern forward Jamal Musiala suffered a serious ankle injury after being tackle by Donnarumma while diving for the ball. 

Neuer believes the Italian goalkeeper doesn’t need to play like that because Willian Pacho is already blocking Musiala’s reach.

“I went up to him and said, ‘Wouldn’t you like to check on our fellow professional?’ It was a matter of respect, going to the player and wishing him a speedy recovery, which he did later.”

“Fair play is always a must. If it were me, I would have responded differently.” 

The sight of Musiala leaving the pitch with a devastating injury shocked not just Bayern but the wider football world. The 22-year-old German midfielder is expected to undergo surgery in Munich and could be out of action for four to six months.
